The holidays are fast approaching and with it comes the gift lists, Secret Santa, reunions and parties. It’s easy to get busy and forget the important things, like planning this year’s holiday vacation with your family.
Catch the sunrise at Angkor Wat then climb the steep steps for a view of the temple complex. Take the kids to other remarkable temples such as Bayon and Ta Prohm and let them explore the ancient ruins.
Other than Siem Reap’s temples, families can also enjoy a trip to the Banteay Srey Butterfly Centre, where you can gently hang out with thousands of butterflies. There’s also the Angkor Centre for Conservation of Biodiversity, where you can visit rescued animals such as leopard cats and gibbons.
Still brimming with a lot of energy? Burn them by going rock climbing at the Krorma Yamato then cap off the trip with a Khmer massage at Lemongrass Spa.
Start your day with some smorrebrod, then wander around the capital of Copenhagen for a mix of old and new: the classic sight of Nyvahn, the majestic palace of Amalienborg and the iconic Little Mermaid statue. You can cap off a busy day of sightseeing by wandering around Stroget, known as the capital’s shopping street or visiting the Christmas markets and enjoying the spirit of hygge.
For something more thrilling, there’s Tivoli Gardens, an amusement park that first opened in 1843. It may be old but the rides are safe and fun, so a visit is required. Another amusement park option is the world’s first and original Legoland, boasting 65 million LEGO bricks. Spend a day or better yet, check in at the Hotel Legoland for a complete experience.
Other must-do activities include a trip to Odense for its castles, museum and zoo, or at Fyrtojet for its cultural center that features storytelling sessions, dress up games and music.
Planning a family holiday to this South American destination might not be on top of your list, but perhaps we can convince you to give it a shot!
Soak up the sun in Leblon Beach, where you can unwind and let the kids run and play in the sand or hike up the Morra Da Urca, known for its picturesque panoramic views. Hoping to go sightseeing instead? You can take the cable car up the famous Sugarloaf Mountain or take the steep train ride heading up the Christ the Redeemer, where you can enjoy the scenery and the experience of local Samba bands which often come aboard to entertain passengers.
Craving to escape the usual tourist spots? Head to the town of Sao Paulo, home to exciting architecture, art and cuisine. Take the kids to Museu Catavento, an interactive and fun science museum, rent a bike and cycle around Ibirapuera Park, or go restaurant hopping to sample local dishes.
