Day 01: TROMSO
Welcome to Tromso! Meet your local driver and proceed directly to your hotel for check in. Recharge for the night as you will embark on an Arctic adventure in the next coming days!
Day 02: TROMSO
Start your day with a city tour then a fjord adventure by Rib Boat. You will be provided with a warm thermal suit, baclava, mittens and goggles to protect yourself from the cold winds as you ride an open rib boat across the fjords. In the evening, search for the Northern Lights as you go to the Wildnerness Camp Tamok, uninhabited with no artificial lights. You will be walking through the valley in search of the Aurora together with your local guide who will also share tips and techniques on how to photograph the Northern Lights. One-course meal, outdoor equipment included.
Day 03: TROMSO - LONGYEARBYEN (SVALBARD)
Take a flight to Svalbard, where you will meet your guide and proceed for a short tour of Svalbard. Your guide will take you through Longyearbyen with a visit to Svalbard Museum and Galleri Svalbard. During the tour, your guide will talk about history, geology, flora and fauna and the modern community. The tour is mainly done indoors and the sightseeing done by bus.
Day 04: LONGYEARBYEN
After breakfast, head out to mingle with the polar huskies as you embark on a husky safari. Eager polar dogs pull the specially-made wheeled sleds. You will be equipped with exposure suit, boots and mittens and given an introduction to how the dogs and the sleds should be operated. We then harness the dogs and head out for the adventure. The guide will drive first with one guest on his sled, while the rest will follow with small wagons good for three people. In the afternoon, you may opt to visit the Svalbard Museum or walk around the city of Longyearbyen.
Day 05: LONGYEARBYEN
Today you will be taking the world’s northernmost fjord-cruise with MS Langoysund and MS Billefjord. The course covers Billefjorden and the Nordenskiöld Glacier. With vast opportunities to experience the arctic wildlife, keep your eyes open and look for whales, seals and a plethora of birds by the birdcliff of Diabas. If the timing is right, a Polar Bear might be roaming around by the glacier. The guide on board the ship will talk about the history of Longyearbyen, glaciers, arctic wildlife, and possibly also a polar tall tale or two. A warm lunch is served by the glacier: marinated whale meat, baked salmon and pork rib, is on the menu. Served with a pasta salad, rice and locally baked bread.
Day 06: LONGYEARBYEN - TROMSO - SOMMAROY
Check out from your hotel and say goodbye to Svalbard as you make your way back to Norway’s mainland. Arrive in Tromso then drive to Sommaroy where you will be spending the night.
Day 07: SOMMAROY - SENJA
Head to Senja by coach. The road trip will be scenic, passing by Tungeneset for the coastal viewpoint. The group will also stop by Bergsbotn, where there are 360 views of the fjords. Take advantage of the photo op with the Senja trolls, before heading to your accommodation for the night.
Day 08: SENJA - BARDU - SVOLVAER (LOFOTEN)
Head to Bardu where you will have a visit to the Polar Park (buffet lunch included). Then continue your road trip to Svolvaer where you will be spending the next few nights in a typical Norwegian cabin or rorbu as they call it.
Day 09: SVOLVAER – KABELVAG – HENNINGSVAER – SVOLVAER
Sail along the narrow Trollfjord with its 2KM sidearm of the Raftsund between Lofoten Islands and Versteralen Archipelago. With its narrow entrance and steep mountain sides, the Trollfjord is really exotic and spectacular. Best enjoyed with some warm coffee or tea and snacks to go along your cruise. Afterwards, get to know more about the Lofoten Islands as you visit Galleri Lofoten Hus with a local guide.
Day 10: SVOLVAER – STAMSUND – LEKNES – REINE
Check out from your rorbu in Svolvaer then proceed to Stamsund where you will have a milder Deadliest Catch experience as you join a local fisherman on a rib boat to hunt for crabs. Then enjoy a sumptuous lunch with fish or shell soup and the crabs you may have caught that day! After lunch, visit the Lofoten Viking Museum and continue onwards to Reine with a stop at Markus Raetz’ sculpture.
Day 11: REINE – NUSFJORD – MOSKENES – REINE
Get the chance to visit Nusfjord, one of the most photographed places in the Lofoten Islands, where you will get some tips and tricks on photography with your expedition guide. Continue your photography course into Moskenes before returning to Reine.
Day 12: REINE - LEKNES DEPARTURE
Say goodbye to the Lofoten Islands as you make your way back home.
Day 13: MANILA
Arrival in Manila.
