Gone Seoul-o

I remember so vividly, stopping to catch my breath and feeling awestruck

Sometimes, I am horrified and then all of a sudden full of peace – an overall feeling when I travel alone.

The very first time I traveled solo was somewhere familiar, Seoul. But I wanted to make it a little interesting and took a side trip to Jeju Island for 3 days –– it was definitely one of the most thrilling spontaneous trips I’ve done.

You will either rent a car or take the bus in order to get around. Walking is not an option. I wanted the short trip to be epic so I asked a local and he recommended that I go to Mt. Halla the next morning.

So I woke up at 3 am in the morning, prepped and waited for the bus, and at 5 am, I was at the foot of a snowy mountain, ready for a trek. No friends, no wifi, just me and my bag full of food and water.

I remember so vividly, stopping to catch my breath and feeling awestruck (a little teary-eyed, too) of nature’s pure beauty surrounding me. If given the chance, I’ll take the 9-hour trek all over again.
