Day 1: Arrival in Casablanca – Chefchaouen
Welcome to Morocco! This is the day that your long-awaited adventure finally starts. Upon arrival, our local guide will pick you up at Mohamed V Airport in Casablanca and drive you to our first stop, the beautiful Hassan II Mosque, where you can take some memorable photos. After that, we'll get in the car and drive the five hours to Chefchaouen, enjoying the sights along the way. Once you reach the blue city, rest, enjoy, and stay the night.
Day 2: Chefchaouen – Fes
After a hearty breakfast, we'll take a guided tour of Chefchaouen. Here, discover more about the absolutely enchanting and quirky "blue city," known for the striking, blue-washed buildings of its old town lined in steep cobbled lanes. At night, we will make the long journey to Fes.
Day 3: Fes
Upon arrival in Fes, we will have time to explore the city's historic medina, which dates back to medieval times. On this stop, find out more about the intellectual and cultural capital of the kingdom, which is also known as the first imperial city.
Next is the day’s high point as we visit a tannery, where you can watch natives use traditional techniques to process the goat, lamb, camel, and cow skins the city is known for. Then, we will take a stop at the cooperative pottery, where locals make tiles and the world-famous Moroccan mosaics. Later in the day, there will be a visit to the southern tower of Fes, from where you'll be treated to a breathtaking view of the city.
Capping off the day, we will spend the night at the riad, a traditional Moroccan house with an indoor garden and courtyard, after a full day of sightseeing.
Day 4: Fes - Ifrane - Azrou - Midelt - Merzouga Desert
We'll be on the road for the better part of a day as we make our way through the Middle Atlas Mountains, taking in the sights along the way.
Then we'll take a break in Ifrane, Morocco's first ski resort, whose picturesque mountainous and plain terrain is reminiscent of Switzerland. Midelt, home of the world's largest apple festival, is where we'll break for lunch. After a short break, we'll resume our journey through the Ziz Valley toward Erfoud, the gateway to the Sahara, and finally, Merzouga. Now that we have reached our campsite, we can rest up for tomorrow's adventure in Morocco.
Day 5: Merzouga - Todra Gorges - Dades Gorges - Palm Groves of Skoura Ouarzazate
We will depart the Sahara after breakfast and head to the oasis of Eljer, where an ancient irrigation system is still in use. Lunch will come after a break in Tinejdad, one of Morocco's earliest caravan trading valleys and the birthplace of the nation's first silver coins.
We'll then travel past a stunning 15-kilometer-long valley of date palms that leads to breathtaking gorges perfect for rock climbing and picnicking. Our next stop will be Dades Valley, where millions of years of erosion have sculpted an incredible rock formation. Following that, we'll travel through the Rose Valley, the sole location in Morocco where the Damascus rose is cultivated.
We will end our travel day in Ouarzazate, where we will spend the night.
Day 6: Ouarzazate - Ait Ben - Haddou - Telouet – Marrakech
Our day begins with a visit to Taourirt Kasbah, a Berber citadel made out of clay and straw. Marvel at the wonders of this most impressive and best-preserved example of its kind. From here, we will proceed to Ait Ben Haddou, an ancient village where a list of movie credits were made, such as Lawrence of Arabia, Jesus of Nazareth, and Gladiator. The same location was listed as a UNESCO site of World and National Culture in 1987.
Afterwards, we will head to the great Telouet Kasbah, formerly the trading center for caravans. It's a feast for the eyes as we go on another road trip to Marrakech from the north of the High Atlas Mountains via Tizi-n-Tichka, a spectacular road of red mountains and Berber villages.
