Day 01: Madrid
Welcome to Spain! As soon as you arrive at the airport, prepare to meet your local guide, who will transport you to your hotel for check-in and an overnight stay.
Day 02: Madrid
Begin the day with a panoramic city tour of Madrid after breakfast. Here, discover the medieval origins of the city, including the Arabic Fortress at the Barrio de la Moreria, famous for its historical buildings. Then, drive through the courtesan district of the Hapsburgs, characterized by Philip II and its Renaissance and Baroque style architecture. Witness firsthand Madrid’s famous landmarks, including Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, and Plaza de la Villa.
Dive into Madrid’s rich culture as you also explore the Madrid of the Bourbons and the complex town of Charles III, the Royal Palace. You also get to encounter the Cibeles and Neptuno fountains and the Pureta de Alcala, which were intricately and historically made. Next, get ready for another feast for the senses as you admire the works of XIX C. such as the Prado Museum.
Then proceed to contemporary Madrid, where you can also explore areas such as Gran Vía, Castellana, the district of Salamanca, the Plaza Castilla, and Parque del Oeste. And some modern landmarks, like the emblematic Las Ventas Bullring and the Santiago Bernabeu Football Stadium.
After the day’s adventure, head on to Hard Rock Cafe to enjoy a free drink. The rest of the day is free for you to explore the wonders of Madrid.
Day 03: Spain - Trujillo - Lisbom
After breakfast, prepare for your transfer to Julia Travel Bus Terminal, which is located in the underground parking lot of the Plaza de Oriente. As you embark, drive westbound towards the region of Extremadura. Enjoy the relaxing drive as you pass by Trujillo, a hometown of many discoveries of the new world. You have free time to explore its beautiful and monumental Plaza Mayor. Afterwards, continue on the journey to Portuguese soil along the Alentejo plains via historic sites including Elvas, Estremoz, and Setubai. Upon arrival in Lisbon, the capital city of Portugal, proceed to your hotel for check-in. There is an optional night tour to attend a show of Fado, a typical Portuguese song and music.
Day 04: Lisbon
The day begins with a morning sightseeing tour of the ancient Olissippo. As you arrive, drive through its main squares and avenues. Enjoy the sites of Belem Tower, Jeronimos Monastery, and the Coach Museum. Next, visit a few more landmarks in this beautiful city, including the Monument to the Discoverers, the Marquis of Pombal Square, and Liberty Avenue. Enjoy a leisurely afternoon soaking in the nostalgic charm of Alfama Quarter, an ancient city located beside its majestic castle. Wander through its labyrinthine streets, filled with centuries-old buildings painted in vibrant hues. Discover hidden gems in winding alleys, including authentic "tabernas," where the haunting melodies of Fado transport you to the past.
Day 05: Lisbon - Alcobaça - Batalha - Fátima
This day is dedicated to driving up north, starting in Alcobaca. Here, visit a 12th century church containing the tombs of Pablo and Ines de Castro. Weather permitting, continue on to the Sitio to have a panoramic view of the beach and the village. Next, continue to Batalha and visit the Monastery, a masterpiece of Gothic and Manueline style considered a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The journey continues on to Fatima, the center of Christian faith and the World Pilgrims Sanctuary, with its impressive Basilica and Cova da Iria, where the Virgin Mary appeared. This is also the location where the tombstones of Lucia, Jacinta, and Francisco are located.
Day 06: Fátima - Óbidos - Nazaré - Lisbon
Today, prepare for your departure to the beautiful walled town of Obidos, adorned with picturesque streets. The next stop is at Pousada do Castle, followed by a visit to the picturesque fishing village of Nazare. After the day’s adventure to these two beautiful places, return to Lisbon, driving through the colorful farming region you don’t want to miss seeing.
Day 07: Lisbon - Caceres - Madrid
After breakfast, prepare for your travel to Caceres, which is considered a World Heritage Site because of the city’s blend of Roman, Islamic, Northern Gothic, and Italian Renaissance architecture. Discover more of what the city has to offer as you walk through its Plaza Mayor and the Old Town with its famous Medieval Quarter. After your adventure in Caceres, head back to Madrid and check-in at your hotel.
Day 08: Madrid
After a fulfilling journey to Spain, prepare for your transfer to the airport after breakfast for your flight back to Manila.
