Day 02: Buenos Aires - Ushuaia
After breakfast, join a half-day guided exploration around the city of Buenos Aires to learn more about its fascinating history and glory. Visit iconic landmarks like the stunning Plaza de Mayo, the bustling 9 de Julio Avenue, the historic Casa Rosada, and the colorful La Boca neighborhood, among others. After the trip, return to your hotel to freshen up before your transfer to the Buenos Aires airport for your flight to Ushuaia. Upon arrival, our local guides will greet you and provide a smooth transfer to your hotel for a restful evening.
Day 03: Ushuaia
The much-anticipated start of your Antarctic cruise begins today! Around lunchtime, head to the designated meeting point to board the ship, where you’ll be warmly welcomed by our crew. Once settled, we set sail, and by afternoon, you’ll arrive at the charming resort town on Tierra del Fuego, famously known as "The End of the World." As the day continues, we’ll journey through the stunning, mountain-framed Beagle Channel, where you can enjoy the breathtaking scenery as we sail into the evening.
Days 04-05: Drake’s Passage
The next two days will be spent crossing the legendary Drake Passage, a thrilling experience that has captivated polar explorers for centuries. Feel the crisp salt air, the motion of the rolling seas, and keep an eye out for wildlife—if you're lucky, you might spot a fin whale spouting mist into the air!
As we cross the Antarctic Convergence, the natural boundary where cold, northward-flowing Antarctic waters meet warmer sub-Antarctic seas, you’ll enter the circum-Antarctic upwelling zone. Here, you’ll witness the remarkable shift in marine and birdlife. Be on the lookout for majestic wandering albatrosses, grey-headed albatrosses, blue petrels, and Antarctic petrels, among others.
After a day filled with stunning sights, enjoy a delicious dinner on board before retiring to your cabin to rest up for the adventures ahead.
Days 06-11: White Continent
Your journey to the majestic White Continent begins as we sail through towering snow-covered peaks, starting with the Melchior Islands and Schollaert Channel, passing between Brabant and Anvers Islands.
Over the next six days, you will explore some of the most breathtaking and remote parts of Antarctica:
Neumayer Channel – The ship may anchor here, launching basecamp activities from the calm waters around Wiencke Island. Enjoy the alpine beauty from the sea with Zodiac and kayaking trips, or head inland for snowshoe hikes and soft-climb mountaineering. Activities will be subject to favorable weather conditions.
Port Lockroy – After sailing through Neumayer Channel, visit Port Lockroy, a former British research station turned museum and post office on Goudier Island. You might also explore nearby Jougla Point, where you can meet gentoo penguins and blue-eyed shags. If conditions allow, you may snowshoe to Damoy Point's old ski-way, one of our top camping sites.
Pléneau & Petermann Islands – If the ice permits, sail through the Lemaire Channel in search of Adélie penguins and more blue-eyed shags. This area is rich in marine wildlife, with the possibility of spotting humpback and minke whales, as well as leopard seals. Kayaking, glacier walks, and more challenging mountaineering are available here
Neko Harbour – Surrounded by epic glaciers and wind-sculpted snow, Neko Harbour offers Zodiac cruises and landings for up-close views of the towering alpine scenery.
Paradise Bay – Become a true polar explorer by setting up camp and spending a night under the Antarctic sky for a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Errera Channel – Possible landings include Danco Island, Cuverville Island, and the secluded Orne Island. You might also explore Georges Point on Rongé Island.
On your final day of near-shore activities, we’ll sail past the Melchior Islands toward open water. Keep an eye out for humpback whales in Dallmann Bay. We may also stop at Half Moon Island in the South Shetlands for a final round of activities before heading back.
NOTE: Conditions on the Drake Passage determine the exact time of departure.
Days 12-13: Drake’s Passage
After an unforgettable icy adventure in Antarctica, it’s time to head back home, retracing the path through the familiar Drake Passage. Enjoy a delightful array of seabirds greeting you as you sail, a perfect reminder of the extraordinary wildlife you’ve encountered on this incredible expedition.
Day 14: Ushuaia
Today marks the conclusion of our incredible Antarctic journey. As we arrive in Ushuaia, you'll disembark the ship after enjoying one last breakfast on board. Following your departure, you’ll be transferred to the airport for your flight back home.
